Xbox fans can breathe a sigh of relief — Fable is still on track. Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon franchise, has officially confirmed that the long-awaited Fable reboot is still scheduled to release later this year. After years of anticipation and community speculation about potential delays, the developer stepped up to reassure players that the project is moving forward as planned.
Playground Games Is Juggling Two Giants
What makes this news even more impressive is the scale of what Playground is managing. The studio is simultaneously working on Forza Horizon 6 — one of Xbox's most reliable blockbuster franchises — while also finishing up Fable, a full RPG reboot of one of Microsoft's most beloved IPs. That's an enormous workload, yet the team appears confident enough to publicly stand behind both release timelines.
What to Expect from Fable
A complete reboot of the classic Fable series, set in a reimagined Albion — no prior knowledge needed
Action RPG gameplay with Playground's signature open-world design expertise
Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive, available day one on Xbox Game Pass
Dark humor and charm that made the original trilogy so memorable, now with next-gen visuals
Why Xbox's 2026 Lineup Is Looking Strong
Between Fable and Forza Horizon 6, Xbox is shaping up to have one of its strongest first-party years in recent memory. Playground Games alone is responsible for two of the most anticipated titles on the platform. For Game Pass subscribers, this is an incredible value — two major titles included in a single subscription.
