After the Fall is a virtual reality first-person shooter developed and published by Vertigo Games, the studio behind Arizona Sunshine. It was released on December 9, 2021 for PC VR headsets through Steam, PlayStation VR on PS4, and Meta Quest. A VR headset is required on every platform.
The game is set in an ice-covered Los Angeles nearly 20 years after an apocalypse. Monsters called Snowbreed roam the frozen streets, and the few remaining survivors gather in a shared hub between missions. You head out on runs into the ruins to collect resources and push back the horde.
Combat is built around physical VR movement, so you wield weapons and powers with real-life motions instead of button presses. Between runs you craft and upgrade weapons at a central hub, and you unlock special powers that suit different play styles.
Co-op is the main focus. Up to four players team up for each run, facing large hordes, special infected, and towering bosses. A separate 4v4 PvP mode adds team-based competition, and the game supports cross-play between VR platforms.
After the Fall suits VR owners who enjoy co-op shooters with friends and like crafting upgrades between missions. Players who prefer solo play can still run missions alone, though the challenge is tuned with a team in mind.
PC VR: PC keys usually activate on Steam and need a SteamVR-compatible headset, 64-bit Windows 10, and about 30 GB of storage.
PlayStation VR: The PS4 version requires a PlayStation VR headset and is redeemed through PlayStation Network.
Deluxe Edition: The Digital Deluxe Edition adds a weapon skin, a digital artbook, and the soundtrack. Check which edition a listing includes.
