Arma 3 Apex is an expansion for Arma 3, developed and published by Bohemia Interactive and released on July 11, 2016, for Windows PC. It is the biggest content drop in the game's history and requires the Arma 3 base game.
Apex moves the fight to Tanoa, a 100 km² South Pacific archipelago with rainforests, a volcano, shanty towns, a sugar cane factory and an industrial port. The varied terrain supports everything from large combined-arms assaults to small covert operations and jungle warfare.
The expansion adds the Syndikat faction, a criminal organization of armed thugs and former paramilitaries, alongside new NATO and CSAT gear. In total it brings 13 new weapons, 10 new vehicles, plus new uniforms and equipment that work across all Arma 3 content.
A co-op campaign for up to four players drops your team into Tanoa, and the content is also available for multiplayer modes, the Eden editor and the huge Steam Workshop scene. Arma's realistic ballistics, slow tactical pacing and emphasis on teamwork all carry over.
Tanoa is also a showcase for jungle combat. Dense vegetation limits sight lines, so scouting, communication and careful use of cover become even more important than on the open terrain of Altis and Stratis. The new vehicles include boats, aircraft and ground transport suited to moving between the islands of the archipelago.
Apex suits Arma 3 owners who want a fresh, dense map and more co-op content, and military sim fans who enjoy community missions and unit play.
