Astro Bot is a 3D platformer developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on September 6, 2024 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and it won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024.
The story is simple and light. Astro and his crew are flying through space in their PS5-shaped mothership when an alien attack scatters the crew and parts of the ship across the galaxy. Your job is to travel from planet to planet, rescue the lost bots, and rebuild the ship piece by piece.
Each level is short and packed with new ideas. Power-ups change how you play, such as boxing-glove punches, a jetpack-style dog booster, and abilities that shrink, stretch, or slow time. The game makes heavy use of the DualSense controller, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that let you feel surfaces, rain, and objects as you move.
Collecting is a big part of the fun. Hundreds of bots are hidden across six galaxies, and many are dressed as famous PlayStation characters. Rescued bots appear in the Crash Site hub, which grows as you find more of them. Astro Bot is a single-player game, and free updates since launch have added extra challenge levels and more bots.
Astro Bot suits families, younger players, and platformer fans of any age who want polished, creative levels and a cheerful tribute to PlayStation history.
