Autodesk AutoCAD 2023 is a release of Autodesk's industry-standard computer-aided design software, launched in March 2022. AutoCAD is used by architects, engineers, construction professionals, and designers to produce precise 2D drawings and 3D models.
A key addition in AutoCAD 2023 was Markup Import and Markup Assist. These tools bring feedback from PDFs and scanned images into your drawing and help turn handwritten or annotated markups into drawing changes, which speeds up review cycles with clients and colleagues. The release also introduced My Insights with a Macro Advisor that suggests automating repetitive commands, and improved the Count and Floating Windows features added in AutoCAD 2022.
Drawings use the DWG format, which remains compatible across AutoCAD versions, so files created in 2023 open in later releases such as AutoCAD 2024 and 2026. Full AutoCAD subscriptions include industry-specific toolsets and access to the AutoCAD web and mobile apps.
AutoCAD is sold as a subscription linked to an Autodesk account rather than as a perpetual license.
