BioMenace Remastered is a 2D action platformer developed and published by Rigel Gameworks. It released on Steam in December 2025 and brings back the classic BioMenace, first released by Apogee Software for MS-DOS in 1993.
You play as Snake Logan, a CIA agent sent into a city overrun by mutants. Each level asks you to shoot your way through enemies, rescue hostages, find hidden secrets and collect points before reaching the exit.
The remaster keeps the original's level layouts and run-and-gun feel while adding enhanced graphics and refined gameplay. Modern touches include full controller support, adjustable difficulty, save anywhere, Steam leaderboards and a built-in level editor.
It is a single-player game. The goal across its episodes is to find the secret lab behind the attack and stop Dr. Mangle from taking over the world.
The original BioMenace was created by Jim Norwood and published by Apogee as shareware, and it became a cult favorite among DOS platformer fans. The remaster keeps its three-episode structure, mutant bosses and hidden areas, while offering features that suit modern players. Options such as keyboard-only controls and play without timed input make it more accessible, and the tiny install size means it runs on nearly any Windows PC. Steam Cloud saves let you continue on another computer.
It suits fans of classic DOS-era shooters who want a cleaned-up version of a cult favorite, and newer players curious about early 1990s platformers.
Activation: Keys activate on Steam and run on 64-bit Windows PCs.
Language: The game is available in English only.
Check the activation platform and region on each offer before buying, and read how to activate your CD key if you are new to Steam keys. More details are on the official BioMenace Remastered Steam page.
