Blair Witch is a first-person psychological horror game developed and published by Bloober Team, the studio behind Layers of Fear. It launched on August 30, 2019 for PC and Xbox One, followed by PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions.
Set in 1996 and based on the lore of the Blair Witch films, the game follows Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past who joins the search for a missing boy in the Black Hills Forest. The woods soon start to bend time and space, and the search turns into a fight with Ellis's own memories.
Your constant companion is Bullet, a former police dog who can track scents, find clues and react to threats. Ellis also carries a camcorder: playing back found tapes can change the world around you and open new paths. A walkie-talkie and phone add story conversations, and the choices you make, including how you treat Bullet, affect which ending you see.
Blair Witch is a single-player story game focused on atmosphere, exploration and tension rather than combat. It suits fans of slow-burn horror, the original films and narrative games like Layers of Fear. A full playthrough is a contained story experience, which makes it a good pick for a few evenings of horror.
