Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a 2.5D action platformer developed by Squid Shock Studios. It launched on July 17, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and Balor Games currently publishes the PC version on Steam.
You play as Bō, a small celestial spirit searching for the truth about where it came from. The world is drawn by hand and borrows heavily from Japanese myth, with yokai, shrines, and spirits shaping each region you visit.
Movement sits at the heart of the game. You chain dashes, jumps, and staff strikes together, and many fights reward keeping enemies in the air instead of standing still on the ground. Bosses test both timing and platforming skill.
The map is interconnected, so new mystical abilities open earlier paths and hidden areas. Exploring carefully pays off with upgrades and secrets that make later challenges easier.
Difficulty comes mainly from precise jumps and boss patterns rather than long grinding. The game has full controller support, and a gamepad is recommended on PC. Text is available in English plus several other languages, including Japanese, French, German, Korean, and Chinese. Its PC requirements are modest, so it runs at 1080p on older hardware.
Bō is a single-player game. It suits players who enjoy Hollow Knight-style exploration, precise platforming, and a calm art style paired with demanding combat.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. Check the activation platform listed on each offer.
Consoles: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch codes redeem on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop.
Edition: The standard game includes the full adventure. The soundtrack is sold separately.
