What is Brigador: Up-Armored Edition?

Brigador: Up-Armored Edition is a top-down, isometric vehicle shooter developed by Stellar Jockeys with Gausswerks and published by Stellar Jockeys. It first launched on Steam on June 2, 2016, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

You play as a mercenary pilot hired to bring down the autocratic government of Solo Nobre, a city on a dying planet. Each mission drops you into a district with objectives and an extraction point, and every destroyed target pays out money for new gear.

The vehicle roster is the core of the game. Up to 56 mechs, tanks and hovercraft can be unlocked, along with 40 weapons, and each chassis handles differently with separate leg and turret control. Environments are fully destructible, so walls, buildings and enemy columns can be leveled to open new routes.

Campaign mode offers 37 missions, while Freelance mode lets you pick a pilot, loadout and map from more than 20 options for shorter runs. A modkit supports custom levels. The game is single-player only.

A dark sci-fi setting and a synth soundtrack by Makeup and Vanity Set round it out. It suits players who like tough, tactical arcade shooters.

Combat rewards careful planning. Each vehicle has its own speed, armor and weapon slots, and many enemies can outgun a careless pilot. Choosing the right loadout, using cover, and deciding when to flatten a building rather than walk around it are key to finishing a district. Pilots also come with their own backgrounds and payout goals, which adds variety to repeat runs and gives the setting more depth.
