Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a story-driven adventure puzzle game developed by Avantgarden and published by 505 Games. It is a full remake of the 2013 original by Starbreeze Studios, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, and was released on February 28, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Two brothers, Naia and Naiee, leave their village to find the Water of Life, the only cure for their seriously ill father. Their journey crosses farms, mountains, a giant's battlefield, and darker lands beyond, told almost entirely through gestures and an invented language instead of subtitles.
The defining idea is control. In single-player, each analog stick moves one brother, and each trigger makes that brother interact with the world. The older brother is strong and can pull levers or lift his sibling, while the younger one is small enough to squeeze through bars. Puzzles are built around using both at once.
The remake adds local co-op, letting two players each take a brother on the same screen. On Steam, Remote Play Together makes it possible to share a session online. The story is short and can be finished in a few sittings, so it works well as a single-weekend game.
Brothers suits players who enjoy emotional storytelling, light puzzles, and cooperative play with a partner or friend. It also makes a good introduction to narrative adventures for people who do not usually play long games.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The remake needs a 64-bit Windows 10 system and 35 GB of storage.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: Console codes redeem on PlayStation Network or a Microsoft account. The remake is not released on PS4 or Xbox One.
