Bud Spencer & Terence Hill - Slaps and Beans 2 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Trinity Team and published by Buddy Productions. It released on September 22, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The Steam version supports Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The story picks up where the first Slaps and Beans ended. After a shipwreck in Africa, Bud and Terence save a village from criminals and head home on a raft full of bananas, but their trip does not go to plan.
You switch between the two heroes and use a revised combat system built on slaps, throws, and the environment. Enemies increase as difficulty rises, and the dialogue is packed with jokes and quotes in the style of the duo's films. Platforming sections break up the fights, and the slapstick tone of the films carries through every scene.
The full adventure can be played solo or in two-player local co-op. A separate party area offers minigames for up to four players, and the game includes voice acting in several languages. On Steam, Remote Play Together lets friends join the local co-op online.
It suits fans of the Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies, retro brawlers, and couch co-op nights. The humor relies on knowing the films, but newcomers can still enjoy the simple, crowd-clearing combat.
