Cannon Fodder 3 is a tactical action game for PC developed by Burut CT and published on Steam by Game Factory Interactive on August 6, 2012. It follows the style of the 1990s Cannon Fodder games, where you lead a small squad of soldiers through dangerous top-down missions.
The setup is simple: 500 conscripts are sent to war, and your job is to keep as many alive as possible. You move your squad, pick targets and use cover and explosives to clear objectives, knowing that every lost soldier is gone for good.
Your troops are better equipped than their predecessors. You can control eight types of vehicles for land, water and air, and use 17 types of weapons ranging from assault rifles up to a nuclear bomb. Enemies include terrorists with advanced technology, automated turrets, force fields, suicide soldiers and giant humanoid robots.
Missions take place around the world and even in space, in day and night conditions with rain and snow. Objectives go beyond combat: you capture vehicles and bases, rescue hostages, defend positions from turrets, search for data discs and repair robots. Command rewards good performance with medals and promotions, and reprimands mistakes.
The game supports single-player and co-op play. It has a light, satirical tone and suits players who enjoy older-style squad shooters and want a low-spec game that runs on almost any PC. Medals and promotions give a clear sense of progress as the campaign moves from one theater of war to the next.
Activation: Keys activate on Steam and run on Windows PCs.
Language: The Steam release lists English as its supported language.
