Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is a two-game action platformer collection developed and published by Konami. It was released on October 26, 2018 as a digital PlayStation 4 exclusive through the PlayStation Store.
The package contains Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, first released in 1993, and its direct sequel Castlevania: Symphony of the Night from 1997. Both are emulations of the original games rather than remakes, so the level layouts, music, and difficulty stay true to how they first played.
Rondo of Blood is a stage-based action game. As vampire hunter Richter Belmont, you whip your way through linear levels, find hidden routes, and rescue captives. Symphony of the Night opens up the formula: as Alucard, Dracula's son, you explore one large, interconnected castle, level up, collect gear, and unlock new abilities that reveal fresh areas.
Konami added several updates for PS4. The collection supports 4K and 1080p upscaling, offers high-resolution backgrounds and smoothing options, and includes full Trophy support. It also uses the DualShock 4 vibration, analog sticks, and speaker, which plays a chime when you pick up items.
Both games are single-player. The collection suits fans of classic 2D action, players curious about where the "Metroidvania" style grew from, and anyone who wants two well-regarded Castlevania entries on one modern console.
Activation: This is a PlayStation 4 title. Codes are redeemed on a PlayStation Network account and the game is downloaded from the PlayStation Store.
