The game is set on the continent of Valandis, a land torn apart by war between three kingdoms. You follow a group of heroes, starting with the mercenary Glenn, who are pulled into a conflict that grows from a single mission into a fight over the future of the world. Dragons and piloted mechanical suits called Sky Armors exist side by side in this setting.

Battles are turn-based, but the Overdrive bar changes how you plan each round. Using the right mix of skills pushes your party into a powerful state, while overusing them overheats the bar and leaves you exposed. Enemies are visible on the map instead of appearing in random encounters, and you can swap party members mid-fight.

As the story moves on, you gain an airship to travel the world and access Sky Armors for large mech battles. Side quests, optional bosses, and crafting systems add more to do beyond the main campaign. The game is single-player only.
