Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) is Valve's free-to-play tactical first-person shooter, released as a free upgrade to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It features classic objective-based gameplay, overhauled maps, dynamic smoke grenades, tick-rate-independent physics, redesigned visuals and audio, and carries forward all items from CS:GO. The base game is entirely free on Steam for Windows and Linux, so a listing titled "Counter-Strike Steam Account" most commonly refers to one of two things: a separate paid add-on called Prime Status Upgrade, or an account-based delivery where a seller provides login access to an account that already owns CS2 items, rank progress or Prime Status. Prime Status is an official Steam-sold upgrade, priced around $14.99, that unlocks Prime-only matchmaking, Premier mode (after reaching Profile Level 10), Competitive Skill Groups, CS Ratings, XP progression and weekly care packages. Valve explicitly states that Prime Status cannot be gifted, transferred between accounts or removed once added, and can only be purchased in-game or through the Steam Store. Buyers should be wary of any third-party "Counter-Strike Steam Account" offer, since genuine Prime Status has no tradable or account-sharing form under Steam's rules.
