The story begins as a rescue mission on the Lingshan Islands and turns into a war when alien invaders appear. You play as Nomad, a special forces soldier wearing an advanced Nanosuit.

The Nanosuit is the core of the gameplay. You switch between modes for armor, strength, speed, and cloaking, which lets you sneak past patrols, flip vehicles, or charge into a fight. Weapons have modular attachments you can change on the fly.

Levels are wide and open, so you choose your own route through jungle, villages, and frozen alien environments. The remaster adds updated textures, improved lighting, and ray tracing support on PC, along with a demanding top graphics preset. The Switch release also marked the first time Crysis appeared on a Nintendo console.
