Death end re;Quest Code Z is a roguelike dungeon-crawling RPG developed by Compile Heart and Idea Factory and published in the West by Idea Factory International. It launched for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in the West on May 13, 2025, and the PC version followed on Steam on August 27, 2025.
The story takes place in World DE-1.5, a copy of an earlier world created by the AI known as Iris. A mysterious man and a group of people who look like the world's former heroes threaten its peace, and new protagonist Sayaka Hiwatari must confront them while telling friends from foes.
Gameplay centers on the Strain Area, a set of dungeons with randomly generated layouts, monsters and traps. Movement is turn-based in the roguelike style, so every step you take gives enemies a turn too. You explore floors for items, push deeper, and face a powerful boss at the bottom before rescuing a companion.
Danger is the series' signature. Many actions can trigger a Death End, a game-over scene with its own artwork, and some lead to Double Death Ends overseen by series writer Makoto Kodouin with art by Kei Nanameda. Between runs, you return to town to restock and prepare.
The game is single-player with English text and Japanese voices. It suits fans of dark Japanese RPGs and mystery dungeon games who enjoy high risk and learning from failure.
Activation: PC keys activate on Steam; PS5 and PS4 versions are redeemed on PlayStation Network.
DLC: A Deluxe Pack DLC is sold separately on Steam, so check whether a listing includes it.
Check the activation platform and region on each offer before buying, and see how to activate your CD key for redemption steps. Full details are on the official Death end re;Quest Code Z website.
