What is Dinkum?

Dinkum is a survival life simulation game created by solo developer James Bendon and published by KRAFTON. It spent time in Steam Early Access before its full 1.0 release on April 22, 2025. The game is set on an island inspired by the Australian outback, and its name comes from the Australian slang for something genuine.

You arrive as one of the first settlers and help turn a small camp into a thriving town. To do that, you gather resources by farming, fishing, mining, foraging, catching bugs, and hunting. The materials you collect let you craft tools, build houses and shops, and attract new residents who expand what your town can offer.

Dinkum mixes cozy life-sim routines with a little more danger than most farming games. The island has red deserts, forests, and hidden mines to explore, and some of its wildlife is hostile. You will need weapons, traps, and a plan to handle the tougher creatures.

Seasons and weather change over time and affect which crops grow, so planning your farm becomes part of the challenge. You can play alone at your own pace, or invite friends to build the town together in online co-op.
