RimWorld - Biotech is a downloadable content (DLC) expansion developed and published by Ludeon Studios for the award-winning colony simulation game RimWorld.
Biotech dramatically expands colony management by allowing colonists to have children, build families, and pass on skills and traits through natural or artificial reproduction. Children grow over time, develop personalities, and can be guided through important life choices that shape their future abilities.
The expansion also introduces genetic engineering, letting you create or modify xenohumans by combining genes that affect appearance, abilities, weaknesses, metabolism, and special powers. Colonists can become fire-breathing warriors, cold-resistant survivors, or highly specialized workers through advanced gene manipulation.
Another major addition is the Mechanitor system. Colonists can control powerful mechanoid workers and combat units, automating labor, farming, construction, mining, hauling, and defense. Alongside these new mechanics come pollution systems, dangerous mechanoid threats, vampire-like sanguophages, and new factions that significantly enrich RimWorld's storytelling and replayability.
