Empire Earth: Gold Edition is a real-time strategy collection that combines the original Empire Earth with its official expansion, The Art of Conquest. The base game was developed by Stainless Steel Studios and first released in 2001, and the expansion was developed by Mad Doc Software. Rebellion released this edition on Steam for Windows PC on May 26, 2026, updated to run on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
You guide a civilization across thousands of years of history. Matches start with gathering resources and building a small settlement, then you research new technologies, raise armies and advance through 15 epochs, from the Prehistoric age to the Space Age.
More than 200 units cover land, sea and air combat, so the way you fight changes as your empire moves forward in time. Advancing too quickly or too slowly carries risks, and a strong position in one epoch does not guarantee success in the next.
The original game includes four single-player campaigns across 29 scenarios, and The Art of Conquest adds three more campaigns and 18 scenarios. Editor tools let you build your own maps, scenarios and campaigns. The official online multiplayer servers are offline, so play over the internet is no longer possible.
It suits fans of classic historical RTS games such as Age of Empires, and players who want a long single-player campaign spanning many eras. Players who missed it the first time can now pick it up on a modern system.
