Endless Legend is a turn-based 4X fantasy strategy game developed and published by Amplitude Studios. It was released on September 18, 2014 for Windows PC and macOS, and it shares a universe with Endless Space and Dungeon of the Endless.
Each match follows the classic explore, expand, exploit and exterminate loop. You found cities on a randomly generated map, scout ruins, gather resources and research new technology. The world of Auriga is cooling, and every winter season gets longer and harsher, so planning ahead for food and industry matters as much as building an army.
The game stands out for its asymmetric factions. Each of the eight base civilizations plays very differently and comes with its own quest line and story. You can assimilate minor factions to gain their units and bonuses, recruit and equip heroes, and fight tactical battles that play out on the same terrain as the strategy map.
Endless Legend supports single-player games against AI rivals as well as online multiplayer matches against other players. Map size, shape, terrain and difficulty are all adjustable, which gives the game strong replay value from one campaign to the next.
It suits strategy fans who enjoy Civilization-style empire building but want stronger story elements, distinctive factions and a more deliberate fantasy setting. Players who finish it can continue with the sequel, Endless Legend 2.
PC and Mac: Most keys activate on Steam. The game runs on Windows and macOS through the same Steam library.
Editions: The standard game includes the base factions. Expansions such as Shifters, Guardians and Tempest are sold separately and require the base game.
