Evan's Remains is a mystery thriller puzzle adventure game developed by maitan69 and published by Whitethorn Games. It was released on June 11, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The story begins years after a boy genius named Evan disappears. A strange letter arrives asking a girl named Dysis to come and find him, and she travels to a mysterious island to follow the trail.
Gameplay mixes logic-based platform puzzles with story scenes. Every few puzzles, the plot moves forward and new mechanics are introduced. The challenge comes from working out what to do, not from fast reflexes, and later puzzles combine earlier ideas into more complex layouts.
Each puzzle takes place on a single screen of platforms and objects, so you can study the layout before you move. The aim is to plan a route forward, and the game gives you room to try ideas until one works.
The narrative is inspired by Japanese graphic adventure games, with conversations, twists, and a slowly unfolding mystery. Story scenes appear between puzzle sets, so the pace alternates between thinking and reading.
Evan's Remains is single-player. It suits players who like story-rich puzzle games, short narrative adventures, and logic challenges that do not depend on timing. Its modest system requirements also make it a good fit for older laptops, and the Steam version runs on macOS as well as Windows.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The Steam version supports Windows and macOS and needs about 500 MB of storage.
Consoles: Console versions exist for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Codes redeem on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then follow our guide on how to activate your CD key. For more about the game, see the official Evan’s Remains page.
