FATE: The Cursed King is an action RPG developed and published by WildTangent and the final entry in the long-running FATE series. The Steam version for Windows PC released on November 19, 2014, with gamigo also listed as a publisher.
Like earlier FATE games, it is a lighthearted dungeon crawler. You create a hero, descend through procedurally generated dungeon levels, fight monsters, collect loot and return to town to sell, buy and upgrade. No two dungeon runs are laid out the same way.
The headline addition is a party system. For the first time in the series you can recruit AI-controlled allies to fight beside you. The game also adds new weapons, spells and unique armor sets, so there is plenty of fresh loot to chase.
The story centers on the city of Ekbatan, where a curse threatens your home and you must find a way to break it. Town features such as shops and gambling remain part of the loop, and the Steam release adds trading cards, badges and achievements.
The game keeps the series' easy-to-learn approach. Character creation is simple, controls use point-and-click movement, and difficulty settings let newcomers relax while veterans push deeper for rarer loot. Fishing and the classic pet companion, which can fetch items and transform when fed fish, also return from earlier FATE games.
It is a single-player game with very low system needs, and it suits fans of classic Diablo-style loot hunting who prefer a relaxed, colorful tone.
Activation: Keys activate on Steam and run on Windows PCs.
Series: Other FATE games, such as FATE: Undiscovered Realms, are separate releases with their own keys.
Language: The Steam version supports English only.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, and read how to activate your CD key if you need help. More details are on the FATE: The Cursed King Steam store page.
