Forza Horizon is the first game in the Horizon series, developed as an open-world street-racing game set in a fictionalized version of Colorado, USA. The game centers on the Horizon Festival, where players progress by winning races, performing stunts, and building popularity through driving activities rather than only traditional circuit racing. It combines arcade-friendly handling with a large roster of cars, including road, off-road, and specialty vehicles, and it lets players compete in a variety of events such as circuit races, point-to-point sprints, speed traps, and showcase challenges. The game also introduced the Horizon Festival concept, where the player works through a festival structure to unlock new events and build reputation across the map. At launch and during its active period, the game supported online play, player-driven competition, and photo mode, but those services have since been removed. Since the title was delisted in 2016 and later had its online services shut down, it remains only for players who already own it and want to revisit its offline content.
