Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection is a side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Capcom. It launched on Nintendo Switch on February 25, 2021, and arrived on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 1, 2021.

The game reimagines the classic Ghosts 'n Goblins and Ghouls 'n Ghosts arcade games. You play as the knight Arthur, who sets off for the Demon Realm after the Demon Lord kidnaps the princess and corrupts the Umbral Tree. Stages are remixed versions of classic levels plus new areas, all drawn in a hand-painted storybook style.

Like the originals, it is hard. Arthur loses his armor after one hit and dies on the next, and enemies appear from every direction. You throw lances, daggers, and other weapons, and collect Umbral Bees to unlock magic spells and skills on a skill tree.

Difficulty settings range from Legend, the classic challenge, down to Page, where Arthur revives on the spot after each death. Local co-op lets a second player join as one of three spirit helpers that support Arthur with barriers and platforms.

Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection suits players who enjoy retro challenge, learning stages through repetition, and tough but fair platforming.

Which version should you buy?

• PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The game needs a 64-bit Windows 10 system and 10 GB of storage.

• Consoles: Switch codes redeem on the Nintendo eShop, PS4 codes on PlayStation Network, and Xbox One codes on a Microsoft account. The PS4 and Xbox One versions also play on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

• Co-op: Co-op is local only. There is no online multiplayer, so a second player needs to be on the same device.
