God of War III Remastered is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game for PlayStation 4. It is a remaster of Santa Monica Studio's 2010 PS3 game, published by Sony Computer Entertainment and released on July 14, 2015 in North America.
The story picks up right after God of War II. Kratos climbs Mount Olympus with the Titans to take revenge on Zeus and the Olympian gods who betrayed him. It is the final chapter of the original Greek trilogy and leads into the later Norse saga.
Combat centers on the chained Blades of Exile, with more weapons earned by defeating gods, such as the Claws of Hades and the Nemean Cestus. You chain combos, grab and finish enemies, use magic, and solve light environmental puzzles between fights.
Boss battles are the main draw, with encounters against Poseidon, Hades, Helios, Hercules, and Zeus, and fights that take place on the bodies of moving Titans. The remaster renders at 1080p, targets 60 frames per second, and adds a Photo Mode. The game is single-player, with a Challenge of Olympus mode that adds a set of extra combat trials.
It suits players who enjoy cinematic action, large-scale boss fights, and Greek mythology, and anyone who wants to finish Kratos's Greek story before the newer games.
