You descend into the depths of a place called the Gut to save a loved one. Every run generates new levels, new weapons, and new scares, so no two trips through the Meat Zone play out the same way. You explore, fight, scavenge, and try to get deeper before your health or your nerves give out.

The standout idea is a twist on prop hunt: instead of hiding as objects, you are hunted by them. Ordinary-looking objects can turn out to be threats, and even the walls seem to watch you, so you learn to stay wary of everything in a room. Weapons are randomized and strange, and many items can be eaten or thrown, including a bat head, fish head, and meat apple.

Golden Light is a single-player game with online leaderboards. Its tone is a dark comedy mixed with grotesque body horror, including talking characters such as a bicycle and a man in a toilet. Its atmosphere is eerie and unsettling from the first room.

Golden Light suits players who enjoy experimental indie horror, roguelike replayability, and surreal humor. Its gore and disturbing imagery make it a better fit for adults than for younger players.
