Set after the events of the original Guilty Gear X, the game continues the series' story in a world where humanity and genetically engineered Gears remain locked in conflict. Players can choose from 19 distinctive fighters, each with unique movesets, special attacks, and playstyles ranging from agile ninjas and bounty hunters to powerful warriors and supernatural beings.
The game expands upon its predecessor with refined gameplay mechanics, additional characters, new stages, multiple single-player modes, and competitive local multiplayer. It also features the legendary rock soundtrack composed by series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari, helping establish the signature style that the Guilty Gear series is known for today. The Steam version includes the official soundtrack and supports modern features such as Steam Cloud, Trading Cards, and Remote Play Together.
