Half Sword is a physics-based medieval combat simulator developed by Half Sword Games and published by Game Seer Publishing. It entered Early Access on Steam for Windows PC on January 30, 2026, after a popular free tech demo.
You start as a commoner and fight your way up through bloody brawls and tournaments in 15th-century Europe. There are no canned attack animations: you steer your weapon directly with the mouse, so the angle, speed, and timing of each swing decide where it lands.
The combat system was built with input from Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) practitioners and sword fencers. Arms and armor are modeled on historical examples, and hits react to where they strike, with in-depth blood and gore effects.
Winning brings renown and money that you spend on new gear, or on forging your own weapons and armor to suit your style. You can also bet on your own fights to boost earnings, at the risk of losing it all.
Half Sword suits players who enjoy skill-based, physics-driven melee combat and do not mind a steep learning curve. It is single-player only, and as an Early Access game its content is still growing. Players who prefer arcade-style hack-and-slash action may find the deliberate, physical fighting slower, but rewarding once the controls click and each victory feels earned.
