Halo: Campaign Evolved is a first-person shooter developed by Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) and published by Xbox Game Studios. It was released on July 28, 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, the first time a mainline Halo campaign has launched on a PlayStation console.

The game remakes the campaign of the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved. You play as the Master Chief, who crash-lands on a mysterious ringworld and fights Covenant forces alongside the AI Cortana while uncovering Halo's dark purpose. The original missions return with rebuilt visuals, new cinematics, a remastered soundtrack, and refined level design.

Combat keeps the classic shield-and-grenade rhythm but adds nine extra weapons from across the series. Vehicles are more flexible too: you can now hijack enemy vehicles and drive a Wraith tank, something the original release never allowed. Optional Skull modifiers change enemy behavior and rules for replay value.

New content arrives through Operation: Meteorite, a three-mission side story starring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. The whole campaign can be played solo or in up to 4-player online co-op, with crossplay and cross-progression between console and PC.

It suits returning fans who want the first Halo story with modern presentation, as well as newcomers looking for an entry point. Players who want the original versions and multiplayer can also look at Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
