Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns is a downloadable expansion for Hearts of Iron IV, the World War II grand strategy game developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. It was released on February 28, 2019 for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The expansion puts the war at sea at the center of the game. Instead of choosing from fixed ship models, you design your own vessels by fitting hulls with guns, armor, engines, and other modules, and you can refit older ships to keep them useful as technology improves.
Supply at sea also matters more. You can reroute convoys to avoid submarine wolf packs, protect key sea lanes, and plan landings with more control. Naval treaties let you follow international limits on fleet size or break them and accept the diplomatic fallout.
On the political side, Man the Guns adds new national focus trees and alternate history paths for the major democracies, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Mexico. Democracies also gain more freedom to act before war officially breaks out.
All content works in single-player and in the base game's multiplayer, which supports large online sessions. The expansion suits strategy players who enjoy naval campaigns, logistics, and alternate history scenarios.
Base game required: You must own Hearts of Iron IV on the same platform to use this expansion.
Activation: Keys activate on Steam and add the DLC to your Hearts of Iron IV library on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Content: Ship designer and refits, convoy and naval treaty systems, and new focus trees for several democracies.
Before you buy, check that the offer is a Steam key for your region, then follow our guide on how to activate your CD key. Full expansion details are on the official Man the Guns Steam page.
