Hell Clock is a roguelike action RPG developed by Rogue Snail and published by Mad Mushroom. It launched on PC on July 22, 2025, and came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in July 2026 alongside the Cursed War expansion.
The game is based on the War of Canudos, a 19th-century conflict in Brazil that left around 25,000 dead. You play as Pajeú, a warrior descending into hell to rescue the soul of his fallen mentor, the Counselor.
Each descent runs against a timer. You fight hordes of undead soldiers in isometric, Diablo-style combat, then decide whether to push deeper for stronger loot before time runs out. Abilities include fast knife strikes, a heavy bell attack and gunfire, and Relics plus Blessings combine into distinct builds.
Progress carries between runs, so each descent unlocks more power. A Relaxed setting removes time pressure for players who prefer to explore at their own pace. The game is single-player.
It suits ARPG fans who like short, replayable runs and a setting drawn from real history.
Pajeú's arsenal grows as you unlock new skills and modifiers, and loot drops add stats and effects that change how each ability behaves. The setting draws on Brazilian history and folklore, with enemies inspired by the soldiers and officials who crushed Canudos. Rogue Snail is a Brazilian studio, which gives the game a personal connection to the history it explores.
PC (Steam): PC keys activate on Steam.
Consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S codes redeem on PlayStation Network or the Microsoft Store.
Cursed War: The expansion is sold separately and requires the base game.
