How to Fish is a physics-based fishing simulator developed and published by indie studio Dazed Games. It launched on PC through Steam on August 20, 2026 and quickly drew more than a million players in its first days.
The setup is simple: a boating trip goes wrong and you crash on a small island. You start with no gear or weapons, so the only way to work your way back home is to learn how to fish.
The core loop is catching fish, fighting the dangerous ones and selling your haul. Money buys better rods, gear and weapons, and landing trick shots earns extra cash. You can also gamble your earnings for a bigger payout.
Quests and boss fights unlock new islands with tougher creatures and better equipment. Each species has a rare variant to collect, which gives completionists a long-term goal.
The game supports solo play or online co-op with up to four players, and its silly physics make group sessions chaotic. It suits groups of friends looking for a lighthearted co-op game that runs on modest hardware.
Sessions have a relaxed rhythm between the action, with time to explore, chat and test new gear. The game is small and easy to run, with a download of around 1 GB, which helps explain why it spread so quickly through groups of friends after its release on Steam. Full controller support is included for players who prefer a gamepad.
PC (Steam): Keys activate on Steam. It is currently a PC-only game.
Consoles: There is no console version yet. The developer has said consoles may come later.
Friends needed: Each player needs their own copy for online co-op.
