Hue is a single-player puzzle platformer developed by Fiddlesticks and published by Curve Digital. It launched on August 30, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with macOS and Linux support on Steam and a Nintendo Switch version in June 2019.
You guide a boy named Hue through a colorless world. A color wheel lets you swap the background shade at any moment, and any block, crate, spike, or laser that matches the background simply disappears. Each room becomes a small logic puzzle about which color to pick and when.
New shards of the wheel unlock as you progress, eventually giving you eight colors to juggle. Later rooms mix moving platforms, lasers, and tricky jumps, so you often switch colors in mid-air. Failing a room only sends you back to its start.
The story follows Hue's search for his missing mother, told through letters she left behind and voiced by Anna Acton. It is a short adventure with no combat and no multiplayer.
Rooms are hand-built rather than random, and many hide optional beakers that reward careful exploration. Characters you meet along the way share small stories of their own, and an original score of more than 30 tracks keeps the mood calm. On Windows, the game can even light up compatible Razer Chroma and Corsair RGB devices.
Hue suits players who like clever, bite-sized puzzles, minimalist art, and a quiet story. A colorblind mode adds symbols to every color.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The game runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Consoles: PS4, Xbox One, and Switch codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop.
Edition: Hue is sold as a single standard edition with no paid DLC.
