Icarus is a session-based PvE survival game developed and published by RocketWerkz, the studio founded by DayZ creator Dean Hall. It launched on PC on December 3, 2021, and ICARUS: Console Edition followed on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
The planet Icarus was meant to become a second Earth, but terraforming went wrong and left a toxic, dangerous world. You play a prospector who drops from an orbital station to gather resources and exotic matter, a valuable material that draws people to the surface.
Survival covers the basics: find food and water, manage temperature and oxygen, and avoid or hunt the local wildlife. You craft tools, build shelters that must withstand storms, and research new technology through a tech tree that carries progress between sessions.
Missions send you down with objectives and, in some cases, a time limit to return to orbit. Open World mode offers a persistent map for longer play. You can play solo or in online co-op, and paid expansions such as New Frontiers add new regions.
Icarus suits players who enjoy crafting, base building, and survival challenges with friends. Regular updates from RocketWerkz have continued to add new items, creatures, and features since launch.
PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam. The game is demanding, needing 16 GB RAM and about 70 GB of storage.
Consoles: ICARUS: Console Edition codes redeem on PlayStation Network or a Microsoft account. It is a separate release from the PC version.
Expansions: New Frontiers, Dangerous Horizons, and other expansions are sold separately on PC. Check what each listing includes.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then read our guide on how to activate your CD key. For news and updates, visit the official Icarus website.
