Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling shelter survival game developed by PikPok. It launched in Steam Early Access on April 9, 2025 for Windows PC and macOS, with the full 1.0 release planned for March 2027 alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions.

The game is set in Walton City, Texas, in 1980, during a heatwave and an economic crisis. A zombie outbreak overruns the city, and a small group of ordinary people must work together to find a way out before the hordes close in.

Each day you send survivors out to scavenge supplies, craft weapons, and search the ruins for a safer route. Each night the undead attack your barricades, so shelters need upgrades and defenses. You also track hunger, exhaustion, injuries, and mental strain such as despair, which makes every decision about who goes out and who rests matter.

Shelters are never permanent. To stay ahead of the horde, the group keeps moving from refuge to refuge across the city. Stealth is often safer than fighting, since a single bad encounter can cost you a survivor for good.

Our Darkest Days is a single-player game. It suits players who enjoy tense survival management, permanent consequences, and a grounded story about ordinary people rather than action heroes.
