Keeper is a third-person atmospheric puzzle adventure developed by Double Fine Productions, the studio behind Psychonauts, Stacking and RAD, and published by Xbox Game Studios. Directed by Lee Petty, it released on October 17, 2025 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
You play as a long-forgotten lighthouse that suddenly wakes up on an island in a lost sea. Joined by a spirited seabird, it sets off on a journey toward the center of the island, walking through landscapes that grow stranger the further it goes.
Progress comes from solving environmental puzzles and interacting with the world around you. The lighthouse and its bird companion work together, and the island keeps changing as withering tendrils spread and new areas open up.
Keeper is a single-player experience with no combat focus. Its story is told without words, relying on visuals, music and animation instead of dialogue, which makes it easy to follow in any language. The Steam release supports full controller play and adds accessibility options such as adjustable text size and camera comfort settings.
It suits fans of Double Fine's imaginative worlds, players who enjoy short, artistic adventures in the vein of story-driven puzzle games, and anyone looking for a calm, surreal journey rather than a challenging action game.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. Keeper is also sold through the Microsoft Store for Windows, so check the platform listed on each offer.
Xbox Series X|S: Xbox codes redeem through the Microsoft Store and can be region-locked.
Game Pass vs. key: Keeper is part of Xbox Game Pass, but a key gives you permanent ownership instead of subscription access.
