Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a story-driven open-world role-playing game developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver. It was released on February 13, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and the Royal Edition later came to Nintendo Switch in 2024.
The game is set in the Kingdom of Bohemia in 1403, during a real conflict over the crown. You play as Henry, the son of a village blacksmith. When an invading army burns his home of Skalitz and kills his parents, Henry escapes and begins a journey for revenge that pulls him into the wider struggle for the kingdom.
There are no dragons or spells. Combat is first-person and built on directional sword strikes, blocks, and counters, while archery has no crosshair. Henry starts with very little skill, and he improves by doing things: fighting, riding, talking, and even learning to read. Hunger, fatigue, and the state of your gear all affect how well he performs.
The open world covers villages, forests, castles, and monasteries modeled on real locations. Quests often have several solutions, using speech, stealth, or force, and choices can change how characters treat you.
It is a single-player experience that suits players who enjoy slow, immersive RPGs, historical settings, and progression that has to be earned. The story continues directly in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam. The game needs 64-bit Windows and 70 to 90 GB of storage, with an SSD recommended.
Consoles: Codes redeem on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop. Switch is sold as the Royal Edition.
Royal Edition: Bundles the base game with all four story DLCs, including A Woman's Lot and Band of Bastards.
