You play a newly graduated pilot from Clan Smoke Jaguar during Operation Revival, the Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere in the BattleTech universe. It is the first MechWarrior game told from a Clan point of view in decades, with a scripted campaign, cinematics, and recurring characters.

Each mission puts you in command of a Star of five BattleMechs. You pilot one mech yourself and give orders to the others with the Command Wheel or the top-down Battle Grid. Between missions, the MechLab and OmniPod system let you swap weapons, armor, and equipment for each job.

The campaign can be played solo or in five-player online co-op, with each friend taking a mech in the Star, and the game supports cross-platform multiplayer. Expansions such as Ghost Bear: Flash Storm and Wolves of Tukayyid add new campaigns.
