Metro Exodus is the third game in 4A Games' Metro series, published by Deep Silver and first released on February 15, 2019. Inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels, it picks up in 2036, a quarter-century after nuclear war. Artyom leaves the tunnels beneath Moscow and leads a group of Spartan Rangers east aboard the Aurora, a modified steam locomotive, in search of a new home.
This entry breaks from the tight corridors of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. It links classic linear story sections with large, non-linear sandbox levels that you explore on foot or by vehicle. The journey runs through spring, summer and autumn into nuclear winter, with day-night cycles and dynamic weather that change how enemies behave. You scavenge parts, craft ammo and medkits at workbenches, and modify hand-made weapons in the field. Your choices also decide which companions survive the trip.
PC owners get the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition at no extra cost, which adds full ray-traced lighting but requires a ray-tracing capable GPU. A Metro Exodus CD key is one of the cheapest ways into the series, and the two story DLCs, The Two Colonels and Sam's Story, are sold separately or in the Expansion Pass.
