Mewgenics is a roguelike tactics game developed and published by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, the creators of The Binding of Isaac and The End Is Nigh. It launched on PC through Steam on February 10, 2026, and arrived on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8, 2026.
The loop splits between your house and the road. At home you manage your cats, keep them happy, and breed them so kittens inherit skills and mutations from their parents. You then pick a party, give each cat a class, and send them on a run. Decorations from neighbors raise happiness, which makes breeding more likely to succeed.
Adventures move across branching maps with events, shops, item pickups, battles, and bosses. Turn-based combat sets turn order by speed, and knocked-out cats return with injuries that lower their stats. Each cat can go on only one adventure, so long-term planning matters. After each battle, one random cat in the party levels up.
There are more than ten classes with large ability pools, over 900 items, and over 200 enemies and bosses. Neighbors request cats that meet specific conditions, unlocking new classes when you hand them over. It is a single-player game.
It suits fans of tactics games, deep roguelikes, and the dark humor of Edmund McMillen’s earlier work.
