Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) is a civil flight simulation game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Xbox Game Studios. It launched on PC on August 18, 2020, and arrived on Xbox Series X|S on July 27, 2021.
The simulator recreates the entire Earth using map and satellite data streamed from the cloud. You can take off from almost any airport, fly over your own neighborhood, or plan long routes across continents. Cities, terrain, and landmarks are rendered in detail, and real-time weather can be pulled into your flight.
You choose an aircraft, set the time of day and weather, and then fly by hand or with autopilot and navigation systems. Cockpits are modeled with working instruments, and flight assists can be turned on or off to suit beginners or experienced pilots. Landing challenges, bush trips, and flight training lessons add structured goals.
The 40th Anniversary Edition update added helicopters, gliders, and historic aircraft to all owners. Online play lets you see other real pilots in the sky, and live air traffic can fill airports. On PC, the game also supports VR headsets.
It suits aviation fans, sim pilots, and anyone who wants to sightsee the world from above at their own pace.
