Mini Motorways is a minimalist strategy and puzzle game developed and published by Dinosaur Polo Club, the New Zealand studio behind Mini Metro. It first appeared on Apple Arcade in 2019, then launched on Steam for Windows and Mac on July 20, 2021, and on Nintendo Switch on May 11, 2022.
Your job is to build a road network for a growing city. Colored houses appear on the map and need to reach buildings of the same color. You draw roads one tile at a time, and the city keeps expanding, so a layout that works early can fall apart later as traffic builds up.
Each week of in-game time brings a choice of upgrades, such as motorways, roundabouts, traffic lights, and bridges. You have a limited supply of road tiles, so planning and redesigning routes is the core challenge. The game ends when a building is left waiting too long for cars to arrive.
Maps are inspired by real cities around the world, and each has its own geography and quirks. Beyond the main mode, there is a relaxed Endless Mode, a demanding Expert Mode, a Creative Mode with unlimited upgrades, and Daily and Weekly Challenges with leaderboards. The calm soundtrack by Disasterpeace reacts as your city grows.
Mini Motorways suits players who enjoy short, thoughtful puzzle sessions and tidy, colorful visuals. It runs on almost any PC or Mac.
