MIO: Memories in Orbit is a 2.5D metroidvania action-platformer developed by French studio Douze Dixièmes and published by Focus Entertainment. It was released on January 20, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
You play as MIO, a nimble robot who wakes up aboard the Vessel, a huge ark drifting through space. The ship is overgrown with plants and patrolled by machines that have gone rogue, and its caretaker AIs, the Pearls, have stopped working. Your goal is to find out why and save the Vessel before it shuts down for good.
Exploration follows the classic metroidvania loop. You uncover an interconnected map and earn abilities such as a grappling hook, gliding, and wall clinging, which open routes you could not reach before. Combat leans on aerial attacks, and equippable modifiers let you adjust MIO's strengths, sometimes with trade-offs.
You can also repair damaged robots around the ship. Helping them reveals more about the ark's past and earns useful bonuses, while hidden paths and secrets reward careful players. The art style draws on comics and painting, and the soundtrack blends lo-fi beats with choral melodies.
MIO is a single-player game with adjustable difficulty options. It suits fans of Hollow Knight-style exploration, precise platforming, and atmospheric sci-fi worlds told mostly through the environment.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam and need a DirectX 12 GPU with Shader Model 6.0 support.
Consoles: PS5 codes redeem on PlayStation Network, Xbox codes on a Microsoft account, and Switch or Switch 2 codes on the Nintendo eShop.
Platform check: Switch and Switch 2 are listed as separate versions, so confirm which console a code is for.
