Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. It was released for Nintendo Switch on August 28, 2018 in the West. It is an expanded version of Monster Hunter Generations and adds a new G Rank difficulty tier.
The loop is simple to learn and deep to master. You accept a quest, track a large monster, study its attacks, and fight it until it is slain or captured. Materials from each hunt are used to forge stronger weapons and armor, which let you take on tougher quests.
There are 14 weapon types, from great swords and hammers to bows and bowguns. Hunter Styles change how each weapon plays, and powerful Hunter Arts add special moves you charge during battle. You can also play as a Palico cat in Prowler mode.
Hunts can be played solo or with up to four players, either through local wireless play or online with a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Several villages from past Monster Hunter games return as hubs, and the roster includes many classic and new monsters.
The game suits players who enjoy long-term gear progression, learning boss patterns, and co-op hunting with friends.
