Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse Remastered is a story-driven visual novel developed by aNCHOR Inc. with fuzz, Inc. and published by aNCHOR. It was released on Steam for Windows PC on July 20, 2022, and was the first official English release of Total Eclipse.
The story takes place in an alternate history where an alien species called the BETA invaded Earth in 1973 and overran most of Eurasia. Humanity's last line of defense is the Tactical Surface Fighter, a giant humanoid combat machine.
In May 2001, American test pilot Yuuya Bridges is reassigned to Argus Flight at Yukon Base, Alaska, part of the international Project Prominence. He must work with a joint American and Japanese team to build a next-generation fighter for the Empire of Japan, under the strict Lieutenant Takamura Yui.
As a visual novel, the game is read through text, character art, illustrated scenes and battle sequences, with full Japanese voice acting and English text. Total Eclipse is a stand-alone side story that runs alongside Muv-Luv Alternative, written with the series' original creator, so it works as an entry point.
The remaster supports Steam Achievements, Trading Cards and Steam Cloud saves. Its hardware needs are modest, asking for just 4 GB of RAM and 2.5 GB of storage, so most current PCs can run it comfortably.
It suits mecha and military sci-fi fans, players who enjoy long character-driven visual novels and anyone curious about the Muv-Luv universe.
Activation: Keys activate on Steam and run on Windows PCs.
Content: This release includes the main story only. The Burning of the Imperial Capital prelude is not included.
Language: Text is available in English and Japanese, with Japanese voice acting.
