My Friend Pedro is a 2D side-scrolling action shooter developed by DeadToast Entertainment and published by Devolver Digital. It was released on June 20, 2019 for PC and Nintendo Switch, followed by Xbox One in December 2019 and PlayStation 4 in April 2020.
You play a masked gunman who wakes up with no memory and follows the advice of Pedro, a sentient banana. The surreal story sends you through criminal hideouts, rooftops, and sewers, mixing dark humor with over-the-top violence.
The core of the game is movement and style. You can slow time, split your aim to shoot two targets at once, spin to dodge bullets, and ricochet shots off pans and signs. Flips, wall jumps, and rolls keep you moving, and kicking objects or enemies opens creative ways to clear a room.
Every hit earns points, and kills raise a combo multiplier. At the end of each level you get a rank, and scores go onto online leaderboards. The game is single-player only, and replaying levels to improve your rank is a big part of the fun.
My Friend Pedro suits players who enjoy action movies, quick replayable levels, and chasing high scores with stylish combos. Levels are short, so the game works well in brief play sessions, and later chapters add vehicles and set pieces such as motorcycle chases.
PC: Most PC keys activate on Steam. The game needs a 64-bit Windows system and only about 4 GB of storage.
Consoles: Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 codes redeem on the Nintendo eShop, a Microsoft account, or PlayStation Network.
