Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse is a 2D action game that blends Metroidvania exploration with roguelite runs. It was developed by Frontside 180, an internal studio at Pocketpair, published by Pocketpair, and released in March 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Each run sends you into procedurally generated dungeons, such as ruins and botanical gardens, that change every time you play. You read enemy attacks, fight with magic, use the terrain, and get past obstacles and puzzles on the way down.
The standout system is the cursed hat. It can possess enemies, letting you borrow their unique abilities to open new paths or gain an edge in battle. Artifacts teach moves such as the double jump, and traits tied to magic and items shift your play style from run to run.
Between runs, materials you bring back clear rubble in a ruined village, where you build facilities, grow crops, cook food, and unlock skill trees. Multiplayer supports up to four players in online co-op.
The hand-drawn animation and painted, picture-book backgrounds give it a distinct look. It suits fans of tough boss fights, build variety, and roguelites with a home base to grow.
PC: PC keys usually activate on Steam. The game runs on 64-bit Windows and needs about 4 GB of storage.
Consoles: Console codes are redeemed on PlayStation Network, a Microsoft account, or the Nintendo eShop. Online play on console may need a paid membership.
Base game vs add-ons: Steam also lists separate add-ons. Check whether an offer is for the base game or extra content.
Before you buy, check the activation platform and region on each offer, then read our guide on how to activate your CD key. You can also view the Never Grave page on Steam.
