Night is Coming is a survival strategy and settlement building game developed by Wild Forest Studio and published by 101XP. It entered Early Access on Steam on April 14, 2025 for PC, so content and features are still being added.
The world is inspired by Slavic mythology and the forests of Eastern Europe. A creeping Darkness is consuming the land, and survivors hide in the woods. You lead a small group, build a settlement, gather resources, and protect your people from monsters that lurk in the dark.
Each settler has their own attributes, needs, skills, and morale. You assign tasks, teach crafts such as farming and smithing, and attract new settlers. Houses keep people warm, workshops make tools, barracks train warriors, and warehouses store supplies, while upgrades raise production and defense.
Combat and exploration add risk. You train warriors in different specialties, control them directly or let them act on their own, and use spells to support your fighters. Expeditions search surrounding lands for rare materials, and over time you must leave developed lands to find new ones. The game is single-player.
It suits players who enjoy colony sims, survival builders, and folklore-themed strategy, especially those who like long nights of careful planning and steady settlement growth.
