No Man's Sky is a space exploration and survival game developed and published by Hello Games. It launched on August 12, 2016 for PC and PlayStation 4, and has since come to Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
The game drops you on an alien planet with a damaged starship and a multi-tool. You gather resources, repair your ship and then head into an effectively infinite, procedurally generated universe where each star system, planet and creature is created by the game's algorithms. You can fly from orbit to the surface with no loading screens.
There is no single way to play. You can follow the main story, scan new species, trade goods between systems, fight pirates and sentinels, or settle down to build bases and run a freighter fleet. Survival elements such as hazardous weather and resource management keep exploration grounded.
You can play alone or join friends in online co-op, and the game supports cross-platform multiplayer. Hello Games has added many large free updates over the years, expanding base building, ships, missions and VR support on PC.
No Man's Sky suits players who enjoy open-ended sandboxes, sci-fi exploration and relaxed long-term progression.
PC: PC keys activate on Steam. The Steam version supports SteamVR and cross-platform multiplayer.
Consoles: PlayStation codes redeem on PSN, Xbox keys on a Microsoft account and Switch codes on the Nintendo eShop, so match your console and region.
Updates: Major content updates are free for all owners, so there is no paid expansion to buy.
